At around 2:30 a.m., the school community was alerted about the threat that targeted the East and West towers, according to the Howard University Department of Public Safety.
This threat came to school after another recent threat was made directed at Cook Hall, a freshman dormitory, authorities said.
Howard University law enforcement said this threat made to the towers was the eighth bomb threat this year.
The university did a campus sweep to ensure the safety of the community and allegedly had leads as to where the frightening call originated from, officials said.
University officials were in contact with federal law enforcement who are investigating similar threats made against Howard University and other historically black colleges and universities, authorities reported.
